Welcome!

Welcome to jeffgeorge.us, a web development blog about how I can help you create a professional presence on the internet. My services include website design, development, and maintenance; digital photography and image editing; and writing, editing, and proofreading. In this blog, I’ll discuss ways we can work together establish and expand your profile on the web.

Leveraging WordPress

I create most of my client sites using WordPress, the most popular content management system in the world. In this blog, I’ll describe ways we can use WordPress to expand the features, enhance the content, refine the design and improve the performance of your website. All of these steps—which are part of the website building and maintenance services I provide—will make your site more useful and friendly to your audience, to be sure they keep coming back. And this web development blog is one way I’ll help you understand the many options and opportunities the WordPress platform provides.

Digital Imagery

Another key factor in web design is the images used to present yourself or your company to your clients. My experience as a commercial photographer allows me to create beautiful, original images for your site. In this blog, I’ll present examples of different kinds of photography that may be appropriate for your needs, and talk about how we can create those pictures. I’ll also show you some of my favorite images, from both personal and client work, and discuss what went into their creation.

Copywriting for the Web

From time to time, I’ll write about writing for the web here as well. I won’t bore you with grammar, spelling and punctuation—all that’s computerized now, anyway! Instead, I’ll talk about topics and approaches to writing content that will attract and engage your audience. But I’ll also talk about how to write in a way that will appeal to the automated webcrawlers that search companies like Google, Bing and Yahoo! use to index your site. It’s quite possible to write in a way that appeals to humans and search engines alike, and I’ll talk about how we do that in this blog, too!

A Two-Way Street

I hope that this blog will be a conversation, not a sermon. You can help that happen by commenting on any post. Have something to add? By all means, share! Want to know more about something? Ask away—if I don’t know the answer, I’ll try my best to find out for you. Disagree with something I said? I’m eager to discuss just about anything, as long as we all keep the dialog respectful.

And if there’s a topic I haven’t covered that you want to know more about drop me an email, and I’ll write a post on it as soon as I can!
